Jefferson Award Winner Alumni Meg Moore
Congratulations to Nonprofit Portfolio alumna Meg Moore for receiving the prestigious Jefferson Award to honor community and public service in Central Texas!
The Jefferson Awards Foundation is committed to tapping into the incredible capacity and spirit of young people. Through our Students In Action, Lead360 Challenge, and GlobeChangers programs they support, train and empower today’s youth to be leaders, problems solvers, entrepreneurs and impactful global citizens. They identify and celebrate local unsung heroes who serve in communities across the country through our vast network of media partners. Jefferson Awards Foundation has also partnered with prestigious corporate and university Champions, as well as a host of national partners to build a culture of service in workplaces and communities across the country.
Meg Moore has balanced an interest in social benefit with a passion for rapidly evolving organizations throughout her career. After graduating from Harvard-Radcliffe College, she began her career at Trilogy Software in Austin, where she caught start-up fever. Meg has co-founded four firms, and has advised several others through both the start-up and acquisition processes. She received her MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. within the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. She has been instrumental as a strategy consultant for several nonprofit organizations, including the Literacy Coalition of Central Texas, where she developed a business plan, facilitatated a merge with another organization, and restructured their operations.
"There's this perception that volunteering is stuffing envelopes, but any job can be a volunteer job," said Meg Moore.
