Welcome from the Director
Welcome to the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service!
If you are new to the Center, I invite you to get to know us and to learn more about our work. If you are an old friend or former student, welcome back.
Our mission at the Center is to build knowledge about nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, and volunteerism, and to prepare students and practitioners to make effective contributions to their communities.
Our faculty are leaders in the study and advancement of community-based services and community engagement, volunteerism, and philanthropy contributing research and scholarship internationally, nationally, and across the region and state. Our nationally ranked Nonprofit Studies Portfolio Program is the largest such cross-disciplinary academic program at the University of Texas at Austin and attracts top graduate students from across the university and nation.
Martin Luther King, Jr., suggested that life's most important question is this: "What are you doing for others?" To be associated with the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service is to be a part of a proud and rich legacy of formulating a meaningful response to that question.
I hope that you join us in creating a diverse and innovative community at the RGK Center!
